Over the years many of you have bought the AXE™ from us by Carter Products. Most of you have ask to be able to buy the handle only . It is now available and it feels the same as the traditional AXE™ tool giving you now the ability to use your Sorby, Carter and Son and Thompson tools
The AXE™ (patent pending) by Carter Products® was started years ago in testing and development to create a better quality, more functional carbide turning tool then what was already on the market. With the standard line we have achieved that but due to demand and love of the AXE tool handle we have refined the design and developed the Pro Series handle which is modular and can be used with not only Carter Pro 5/8″ bars, but also most 5/8″ tool bars, from carbides to standard gouges and scrapers.
The AXE handle is a departure from traditional woodturning handles with its flat sides and angled rear which has proven more ergonmic and comfortable for most turners. The tapper and flats on the rear not only allow for a more comfortable grip, but in Pro tools bars they allow for positive angle registration when sheer cutting with the tool slightly angled. For traditional gouges the added control afforded by the flats increases your control and reduces fatigue.
